I did some virtual volunteering for link generations. I created art pieces, including: 17 painted cards with messages and 3 painted murals to give to elderly people in isolation during quarantine. I used watercolors for the cards that I created and acrylic paints on the 3 canvas pieces.
I tutored my next door neighbor who is 6 years old during quarantine. He has a form of autism and has a registered IEP plan with our county. I combined recommendations and exercises given to him from his kindergarten teacher, occupational therapist, speech therapist and emotional therapist. We did all of his assignments for school (that were given to him via google classroom and zoom). He improved his reading skills and is now reading level 2 books. I got him to try 15 new foods which many are now a regular part of his diet. We worked on improving our social skills and expressing our feelings verbally (emotional). We played letter bingo to work on his "L" sounds (speech). We did science some experiments and art projects. Most of the projects we did involved some form of writing, coloring, clay molding, hand strengthening (occupational). Over the course of the three months, we improved our writing skills and ability, as well as our reading comprehension, geography, math, science, grammar, vocab, spelling, etc. When he went for his yearly check-up less than a month ago, his pediatrician reported that this is the best that Henry has ever done--referring to his improved social abilities, willingness to try new foods, and his performance academically.
I am a part of the garden club at the Boys and Girls Club teaching the little ones how to plant produce and take care of their plots.
Super windy and high tide, but still managed to pick up a lot of trash in our winter coats! Our club just received a certificate for our beach clean-up work from Volusia county (posted on our social media)
I volunteered at the Spring Hill garden with the class I am a teacher's assistant for.
best turn-out ever
-teamed with club soccer
It rained so we took shelter for a minute under the concrete in the picture I added. We had an average turn-out this day.
